Visitors to this year’s Cereals event will be the first to see the impact that Chafer Machinery’s new owners have had on its class-leading crop sprayers.

Nexus Chafer Ltd, owners of the historic brand, will reveal several new enhancements on stand 860, including a new e-plumbing system that offers better performance, increased reliability, and easier maintenance than previous versions and an improved and safer steering system with greater accuracy, an enhanced rate and section control system.

Developed by Peter Chantry, one of the directors of Nexus Chafer, which bought the Chafer and Horstine brands out of administration at the beginning of 2026, all of the new features deliver efficiencies through simplicity.

Chafer’s new e-plumbing system has been redesigned to use the fewest moving parts possible, resulting in the number of valves being over halved. Furthermore, the valves can be serviced individually, thereby significantly reducing the need to service or replace motorised components.

“Before buying Chafer Machinery, Nexus was close to launching its own range of crop sprayers featuring new technologies and engineering that we’ve developed completely in-house,” says Peter. “Obviously, launching a new brand with groundbreaking designs was going to be a significant amount of work and so, when the chance to buy the Chafer business arose, it made complete sense and delivers the perfect way to launch our new approach into the market by incorporating it into an already highly successful, popular and respected brand with lots of loyal customers and the support of a strong dealer network.

“We’ve listened to Chafer owners and have acted on their feedback. The new e-plumbing system, which is available in both electronic and mechanical configurations, and the new steering system respond to what users want to see in their next Chafer crop sprayer, and we are very excited about revealing them to visitors to our stand at Cereals.”

As well as the new steering and e-plumbing system, people visiting Nexus Chafer’s stand will also be the first to see the new Sentry 8000 trailed crop sprayer with Chafer’s largest ever tank, with an 8,000-litre capacity.

“The Sentry trailed crop sprayer is engineered to offer excellent spraying output and performance, combined with absolute precision and control,” says James Bilson, sales and marketing director at Nexus Chafer Limited. “As with the improvements to the e-plumbing system and steering system, we’ve listened to our customers and what they wanted to see added to the range. A larger tank was one of those things, and we’ve responded by doubling the size of the Sentry’s largest tank. Having an 8,000-litre capacity will double the amount of time that farmers can be spraying, which should make a significant difference.”
