STABLE, RELIABLE & PRODUCTIVE
The new Guardian and Sentry are designed to be smooth and stable, both in the field and on the road. Building on the features of the outgoing trailed range, the chassis layout has been optimised to bring down the centre of gravity by over 10%. This ensures safer, faster transport and makes tough side slopes a more comfortable and stable prospect.
The unique heavy duty chassis has been designed to cope with the toughest field conditions. Its stepped design allows the stainless steel tank to sit low into the chassis reducing the centre of gravity. Baffles inside the stainless steel tank reduce the amount of liquid moving from side to side further improving stability while at the same time preventing liquid surge when braking or turning sharply on the road. For extra clearance to minimise crop damage a continental hitch can be specified across the range. Various pickup types are also available from standard hook pick ups to Scharmuller options to ensure the sprayer is positively connected to the towing tractor.
All Chafer trailed sprayers come fitted as standard with load compensating air suspension. Long travel air springs are located between the sprayer chassis and suspension sub frame for a smooth and even ride. A load compensating system ensures that the suspension offers the same smooth ride regardless of tank contents. The air suspension system can be fed via an on board 12v compressor or directly from the tractor.
AXLES & BRAKING
Trailed sprayers offer a distinct advantage over their self propelled counterparts by cutting down travel times. Chafer fit a 50kph, 10 stud axle as standard to all models in the range, but for sprayers being pushed to their limits of performance a 65kph option now available as an option across the range. Hydraulic axle braking is standard fitment, with load compensating air braking available as an option. To further enhance towing safety at these speeds the steering axle is fitted with a hydraulically engaged axle lock that can be operated from the cab for an extra level of security.
AUTO TRACKING AXLE
Accurate headland turns are achieved using a tracked axle system. Precise measurements are made of the tractors turning angle, the Chafer Traxle system then adjusts the sprayer wheels to follow perfectly behind the tractor wheels, reducing tractor wheelings and increasing crop yields. All Chafer sprayers are fitted with a steering axle, rather than the steering drawbar alternative to ensure the best possible stability during turns. When turning, the points of balance, the two wheels and pick up hitch do not move. This means the centre of gravity does not move making the machine much more stable in comparison to the steering drawbar system.
