CHAFER STEEL BOOM RANGE
The new F-Series boom offers growers a multitude of benefits over the previous model. It retains the durability customers have come to expect from a Chafer boom, whilst dramatically improving boom ride. Available in widths up to 30 metres, the new booms have been extensively tested over recent seasons to ensure they meet durability requirements. When in the folded position, F-Series booms sit very low over the tank and chassis, improving stability and keeping the boom away from low hanging trees during road travel. This new lower fold height has been possible by moving the boom to a triple folding configuration when specified in widths over 24 metres. To ensure folding speeds are not negatively effected, the F-Series is fitted with our fast fold rams to keep time on the headland to a minimum.
Developed in 2004 to drive spraying productivity, the Chafer G-Series boom is well proven and has helped hundreds of growers to maximise their crops potential through fewer crop wheelings, minimised compaction and more timely spray applications. Continuous development of the boom over this period ensures users can expect a boom that can put up with everything that is thrown at it, with G-Series booms having been thoroughly tested by farmers and contractors throughout the world. Despite being available in widths of up to 36 meters the boom is no wider in transport than its smaller sibling the F-Series to guarantee ease of travel on the road. Due to these wider boom widths G-Series is fitted with independent tilt as standard, ensuring correct spray nozzle height can be maintained, regardless of field contours.
Driven by demand from growers wishing to maximise sprayer output and further reduce crop wheelings, Chafer can now offer our new H-Series boom. Based heavily on our well proven G-Series boom, the new H-Series is a triple folding boom, available in widths of 36 to 42 metres. Not only does this offer increased output at its widest configuration, operators now have the option of spraying at 14 or 28 metre widths as well, offering further flexibility in boom range. To optimise boom control and ensure long lasting boom life the system is fitted with a brand new centre frame. This new assembly features revised geometry as well as an improved suspension system, designed to isolate the boom from chassis movements that can unsettle the boom during operation.
DURABLE BOOMS FOR ACCURATE SPRAYING
STABLE BOOM SUSPENSION
Triple stage boom suspension for bounce, tilt and yaw is fitted as standard on all Chafer booms providing a smooth and stable boom ride. This results in an extremely level spraying platform ensuring accurate chemical application across the boom width. This smooth ride also protects the boom from fatigue and damage. A sliding frame carriage and mast offer robust and maintenance free height control whilst assisting sprayer balance by keeping the boom close to the rear of the machine. Separate yaw and tilt suspension keep the boom stable at high forward speeds protecting the boom and crop from damage.
COMPACT FOLDING ARRANGEMENT
All models in the Chafer boom range fold in a compact format, close to the spray tank, without extending towards the tractor cab. This is achieved by moving to a triple folding system when booms are wider than 24 metres. This arrangement lowers the centre of gravity of the machine offering improved stability on the road, as well as keeping booms and spray components away from low hanging branches which can damage components such as nozzle bodies and pneumatic fittings. By moving away from wider twin fold booms the back of the tractor is now better protected, not only from the possibility of a collision with the booms, but also from corrosive chemicals and fertilisers dripping onto the tractor.
STAINLESS STEEL LINES
Chafer’s spray line prime and purge system recirculates chemical through the spray lines prior to spraying to ensure even chemical application across the full boom width. Clean water can also be purged through the spray line thoroughly rinsing out any residual chemical, minimising any chance of cross contamination between tank mixes. Stainless steel is used for all spray and purge lines as it offers reliability, corrosion resistance as well as being extremely easy to clean. The internal walls of a stainless steel line are perfectly smooth ensuring washing out is a fast, thorough process preventing build up of residues.
LONG WORKING LIFE
Adjustability and a corrosion resistance are vital to ensure a long, reliable working life for any spray boom. The three steel booms in the range are built to withstand the rigours of modern agriculture with all booms featuring adjustable folding pivots and stainless steel components throughout, allowing easy maintenance at any stage in the booms working life. Chafer sprayers have long been associated with liquid fertiliser application, something which tests any paint finish. All Chafer boom frames are first shot blasted before a zinc rich primer coat is applied. A high gloss yellow powder coat is the last step, with both the primer and the top coat being baked on to ensure a long lasting, corrosion resistant finish.
