Guardian Trailed Sprayer

The Guardian is a trailed sprayer packed with innovative features to maximise spraying performance and efficiency. It carries Chafer Machinery’s 18-30m twin fold boom along with a 3-4000l stainless steel tank. New designs and innovations such as air suspension, a low profile tank, tighter axle tracking and upgraded boom suspension help the Guardian to set a new standard for productive and accurate spraying.

Safe and smooth field/road travel

The Guardian comes fitted as standard with load compensating air suspension. Two air springs are located between the sprayer chassis and trailed arm giving a smooth and even ride. To further enhance the towing performance, the Guardian’s steering axle has been fitted with a hydraulically engaged axle-locking pin that can be operated from the cab. Air brakes can also be fitted as an option to further enhance braking capability.

Increased stability

Stability, especially when spraying on steep ground or even when manoeuvring the sprayer to the field was a key consideration when designing the Guardian. The utilisation of a stepped chassis in conjunction with a square profile stainless steel tank has helped to reduce the centre of gravity by 35% compared to previous models. Baffles inside the tank also reduce the amount liquid moving from side to side further improving stability while at the same time preventing liquid surge when braking sharply on the road. All Chafer trailed sprayers are fitted with a steering axle because of the inherent stability compared to steering drawbar alternatives.

Tighter tracking

The Guardian’s scalloped wheel arches and adjustable height mudguards allow maximum axle lock on large tyres (300/95 R46 at 72” track width). This gives the advantage of accurate tracking behind the tractor reducing the amount of crop damaged the headland.

Smoother boom ride

A combination of load compensating air suspension on the chassis, lift accumulators for extra vertical suspension as well as gimble suspension for the boom gives a smooth boom ride. Not only do these features these improve the accuracy of chemical application but they also reduce wear and tear on the boom.

Simple operation

Two compact command boxes are used to control all functions on the sprayer. The sprayer command box incorporates switches for boom operation, spray section control, pump on/off, boom recirculation and steering. A TeeJet 844 application rate controller allows for precise and rapid reactions to changes in forward speed minimising under or over application of chemical.

Coupling the sprayer to the tractor could not be simpler. Electrical systems are connected via one multi pin plug. The sprayer pump is hydraulically driven meaning there is no PTO shaft to connect. All hydraulic functions including the pump, boom and steering operate via one spool on the tractor.

Application accuracy

Application accuracy can be further improved by the use of GPS automatic boom section controlChafer Contour automatic boom leveling helps to maintain an accurate boom height above the crop and minimized operator fatigue.

Environmental compliance

Features such as spray line prime and purge, an in field wash down lance and enhanced can rinsing nozzles are fitted as standard to help ease compliance with crop assurance and waste recycling regulations.
